That of a warehouse worker has always been one of the most in-demand jobs, both in demand and supply.
But what exactly does a warehouseman do and why is it such a sought-after job?

Today, companies are looking not only for brave workers, but for professionals who specialize in warehouse management, and the figure of the warehouseman is undoubtedly that of a person who performs many different functions: crucial steps in the production phase as in the final phase of delivery and shipping.

A job that requires continuous movement and handling of loads: how do you protect your feet and legs from muscle fatigue and the danger of accidentally dropping packages and parcels on your feet?

Working in Logistics and as a warehouseman means performing many functions that require movement, short or long shifts , standing for long periods of time, and constantly handling packages and parcels, between moving shelves and forklifts.

Personal Protective Equipment performs an important function: to protect the worker. Safety shoes and toe caps are extremely important because they must protect against accidentally dropping a neck or weight on the front of the foot.

But what other features should a work shoes have for people who are warehouse workers?

The warehouseman is the professional who, along with other employees, is responsible for managing the warehouse and everything that revolves around it, starting with receiving, storing and shipping goods.

To better understand the context, try closing your eyes and imagine you are in a large warehouse, full of shelves, boxes, cartons, raw materials, components, and lots of people moving around, forklifts in motion: lo and behold, welcome to the world of the warehouse worker!

And seen, like that, it seems like a dynamic job but, in the end, not too complex; instead, it is one of the most heterogeneous professions in the working world.

Specifically, the warehouseman receives and inspects goods, provides storage, organizes picking & packing maneuvers, handles pickups, prepares products, takes inventory, and checks stock. And, depending on the work to be done at any given time you may be standing or sitting for long periods of time, in contact with forklifts and moving packages.

In these cases, High Visibility clothing and work shoes with toecaps are essential:

  • High Visibility clothing because it makes the worker visible when near moving vehicles and forklifts;

  • Safety footwear because it protects the toe and prevents injuries due to accidental dropping of packages and parcels.

Today, Logistics employs indicatively 2.5 million people in Italy, and 4 out of 5 workers are employed as a forklift operator, preparer, packer or packer.

But although it seems that this profession does not require much training, people with more skills are the ones destined to make a career in warehouse management and Logistics.

Over time, the operational organization within companies has become increasingly efficient, including the warehouse. This has led to the emergence of new jobs that require training and expertise.

Here are the 5 skills most in demand of a warehouse worker today:

  • Have a good administrative background and knowledge of major management software and product code reading;

  • Be familiar with forklifts, pallet trucks, etc. (this is one of the most in demand!);

  • Know foreign languages: helps in contacts with transporters, customers and suppliers;

  • Accuracy and thoroughness;

  • Ability to work independently.

In all cases, whatever your specific task, never forget to use appropriate Work clothing and work shoes.

European Regulations/standards are very clear with respect to worker safety, and in the case of handling loads and weights, shoes with a toe cap become an essential requirement.

The U-Power toe cap, in addition to protecting the foot from the danger of crushing, also meets the need for breathability in safety shoes, allowing the elimination of sweat in the form of water vapor.

Ryder shoes in the RED 360 range/assortment feature an aluminum Airtoe toe cap that weighs only 54 g, ensuring the shoe is lightweight.

But for those who work in constant motion, it is equally important to use work shoes that use technology that can restore energy while preventing and dissipating joint and muscle stress.

Ryder shoes use an Infinergy® insert to store energy with each step and return it as the foot comes off the ground. An anti-gravity boost that offers great benefits to muscles and blood circulation not only of the legs but also of the spine with a greater sense of well-being.

RED 360s are a powerhouse that improves comfort and safety, thanks in part to the heel counter with shield technology, which is breathable and waterproof, and the multidirectional tread that increases grip and boosts stability.

RYDER features a collar with Lycra® fiber fabric that provides a snug fit and two eyelets on the heel and tongue that make it easier to insert the foot into the shoe.

Work days seem shorter when you wear a RED 360, so what are you waiting for to try them on?
