There are many questions our customers ask us every day on Social or through our dealers about both safety shoes and workwear.

One of the most frequent questions we are asked is:

"Why choose professional workwear instead of everyday clothes?"

What are the differences between accident-prevention clothing and the common clothes we use every day?

Let's take a look together at what the European regulation/standard requires, how to choose your work clothes plus some tips for the winter season.

Workwear is designed to respond in the best possible way to the specific needs of workers and must take into account several parameters, including freedom of movement, maintenance of warmth in the coldest periods or dispersion of heat and sweat in summer, lightness and comfort, and protection from vento and rain.

Not to mention the requirements for functionality and practicality given by the presence of pockets in which to store tools, badges and cell phones, ease of washing and quick drying, and so on.

Behind a successful work suit there is always a great deal of engineering, applied technology and care in design.

The Consolidated Occupational Safety Act (Legislative Decree 81/08) defines Personal Protective Equipment and therefore, also work clothes as:

"any kind of equipment whose function is to be worn by the worker with the intention of protecting his or her health and safety during working hours, as well as any accessory or complement having the same purpose."

Accordingly, any piece of accident-prevention clothing, being equipped with special features designed to protect the worker is considered PPE (personal protective equipment).

All PPE is certified and carries the CE mark of conformity.

The set of technical standards that take into consideration the various industrial, commercial and tertiary sectors are identified by the acronym UNI EN ISO followed by a number that identifies the type of protection being considered.

In a general range/assortment, The general requirements (UNI EN ISO 340) demanded ofprotective workwear include, in addition to the CE mark, that theworkwear be marked with:

  • Name;

  • Trademark or manufacturer's identification;

  • Type or product code;

  • Code of the relevant European Standard;

  • Description of the hazard against which the safety clothing is used; Scope of use; Performance classes; Maintenance stamp;

  • Indications for use.

For all other types of protection-protection from cold, protection against rain and weather, poor visibility, etc.-refer to the specific UNI EN ISO standards that can be consulted directly on our website.

Work clothes are, as previously mentioned, Personal Protective Equipment, that is, they are specifically designed to facilitate the worker in his work by effectively protecting him from the risk of accidents and injury while performing certain tasks that could prove dangerous.

Of course, safety at work is in the prime, but, if we think about it, accident-prevention clothing can come to us in many situations in our daily lives: while doing "do-it-yourself" work around the house, while engaged in DIY or gardening, and so on. Thus, it proves useful even in life outside of work.

But, of course, depending on the job and the type of tasks involved, it is mandatory to have specific devices to protect the body, hands, eyes or feet.

In the case ofworkwear, each garment is designed to meet a particular work and comfort need.

Thus, for example, work pants must meet a need for freedom of movement (given by stretchy and technologically advanced fabrics ); functionality (thanks to the presence of numerous pockets); strength (thanks to reinforcing inserts such as poly-oxford in the areas of greatest rubbing and wear); protection from cold andmoisture or conversely ensure coolness and breathability in summer.

A work jacket or a sleeveless vest, on the other hand, will need to protect against vento, rain and maintain a constant temperature so as to ensure an ideal microclimate that allows you to work comfortably and serenely.

So what is it that makes the difference between everyday clothing and professionalprotective clothing?

The advanced technologies that make the fabric water-repellent, windproof, 4-way stretch, insulating, and so on, but not only.

Design is also very important, and even if it is not immediately noticeable at first glance, workwear is equipped with small devices that increase personal protection, such as, for example, the drawstring anti-wear that can be adjusted from inside the work jacket pocket, instead of outside, as with the SPACE jacket or the back pockets of the pants slightly offset to the outside of the leg as in the case of the WORLD pants so as to facilitate hand entry even in the case of the presence of a sling or when wearing a heavy jacket.

In short,workwear really offers great advantages and can really make a difference during your workday.

As the prime cold weather arrives and the fall season approaches, it becomes imperative to use a work jacket that can provide protection and comfort.

But what are the features of this work jacket?
